Refugee Week 2012 - Interview with Lemn Sissay Wed, 2012-06-20 18:00

Lemn Sissay is a British-Ethiopian poet, author and playwright, and the first poet to write for the Olympics 2012. He has also received an MBE from the queen for Services to Literature.

SOAS Radio spoke to him at Celebrating Sanctuary 2012 about his work, the major influences for his writing, and his thoughts on the process of asylum and the experiences of refugees here in the UK. His ideas on humans as inherently migratory beings and his thoughts on integration are a moving plea for a new way of looking at asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.
