Big J's Tape Hour
The show focuses on DIY cultures and music from the margins… each episode you’ll hear something rare or unusual recorded by amateur artists that don’t fit the mould.
Cassette tapes boomed in the 80s and became symbolic of the underground, but are still widely used in many parts of the world - they’re cheap, easy to produce and can fit in your pocket! The market for tapes has also been refreshed by internet culture, and are now a common medium on distribution sites like Bandcamp.
I’ll be taking you through a whole new world of music on this under appreciated format – so sit back and enjoy the show!
