Is the term World Music redundant? Should we call it something else? Should we have a heated debate? The term was allegedly coined approximately 20 years ago by super star DJ/broadcaster/ throughly nice guy Charlie Gillett (RIP) as a way of defining music that was essentially not Western Rock & Pop.
