Refugee Week Radio 2011 - Woven Gold - Finding Happiness in a Refugee Choir Tue, 2011-06-21 19:25

Woven Gold is a choir made up of refugees of all ages fleeing persecution from a vast number of countries such as Burma, Congo, Algeria, Guinea, Iran, and many more. The choir was the initiative of the Helen Bamber Foundation, and made possible with the contribution of professional musicians who volunteer every Saturday to accompany the singers.

Annie Blaber, the founder, and 4 members of the choir talk passionately about how the choir has liberated them from the restrictive regimes they knew, and has become a refuge from their unhappy pasts.

The speakers are in the following order: Annie Blaber, Adel Khelifa, Aisha Kaweesi, Syeda Humera, Henry Yin.
