Amy's Archive: Sudanese Sessions: نحو القصر حي النصر تسقط بس Towards the Castle, until Victory. Thu, 2019-01-24 17:35

Since the 19th of December, people across Sudan have been protesting against the thirty years of Bashir Al-Omar’s regime. “Until Victory!” can be heard throughout the streets. This time, Julia and Amy briefly chat about what’s been happing in the country and how music has played a part in the protests of the people. They focus on two of Sudan’s most renowned voices – Abdel Al-Aziz el Mubarak and Mustafa Syed Ahmad, one of the first musicians to bring about the category of ‘political singing’ to Sudan.
