The SOAS Rustle

The Rustle, SOAS Student Union's very own radio show, brings together the entire SOAS community under one banner. It's a grassroots, bottom-up radio show, made by students, and for students. Expect to hear what's been making people talk in the SOAS JCR, how the SOAS sports teams are getting on, features related to SOAS, and music made by SOAS students. Don't necessarily expect a glossy packaged show; this is student-driven radio at its best, showcasing the rich diversity that makes SOAS what it is.

Maddy Fry presents a packed show, featuring news on the election, the new piano, the Middle East, and boxing. Austin Cooper sounds off about UGMs, and we finish with a song by Jamie Wood, a postgraduate in the Anthropology department.

Amit Singh again presents a roundup of the last fortnight at SOAS - we look at the Carnival of Love, The SOAS Saturday Club, and SOAS Sports. A new feature, 'Sounding Off', contains a polemic against litterers at SOAS, and we end the show with a song from Wara, a band made up of SOAS Students.

If you're at SOAS and have recorded a song that you'd like us to play at the end of the show, please email Joe Buckley at joe@soasradio.org, and we'll stick it in.

In the first episode of The revamped and revitalised Rustle, Amit Singh presents a 10 minute roundup of what's been going on in SOAS this February - including how SOAS students have been following the events in Egypt, SOAS Green Week, and how SOAS is celebrating LGBTQ History Month. There's also an update on how our sports teams are doing, and a song from two members of the SOAS Ceilidh band.

This Christmas Special tries to capture some of the richness of the first term, this includes round-ups and reviews of the New JCR refurb, the occupation, protests and the SOAS sporting scene with some of SOAS SU's most colourful characters. That's not to mention plenty of music with the first ever airing of the SOAS Anthem!

The Rustle kicks off proceedings with a bumper packed show. Nick Rodrigo & Esther Opoku Gyeni present in jovial style with special guest African History lecturer John Parker spinning his Desert Island Discs.
