In this episode, he explains the work behind some of his major achievements and his thoughts on the future of the sector. He describes how he helped to design and market hundreds of thousands of hygienic pit latrine slabs when based in Mozambique in the 1980s.

On the 14th December 2011, Professor Nora Cruz Quebral was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the LSE for ‘pioneering and continued contribution to the field of development communication.’ In her acceptance speech, she outlines the history of the ‘Development Communication, Los Baños Style.’ This is followed by a Q&A session including Nick Perkins, Head of Research at the Institute of Development Studies, James Deane, Head of Policy at the BBC World Service Trust, Dr. Linje Manyozo from the LSE and the laureate. Organised by the Communication for Development (C4D) Network.

Calypso monarch, Alexander D. Great, made his first appearance on A World In London today. Armed with just acoustic guitar he gave an impromptu live rendition of The Mighty Sparrow classic, ‘Carnival Boycott’, plus the background to some of his thought-provoking songs from superb CDs, ‘Finest Cuts’ and ‘Haiti’. Conversing about West African griots to the US Black Panthers to Notting Hill Carnival, Alex gave a rare insight into his distinguished career as a musician, band-leader, conscious-lyricist, educator, and the various musical genres of the Caribbean.

Following his talk on Diplomacy, Force and Responsibility to Protect, Professor Bruce Jentleson was interviewed by the CISD student Peter Barett about the key issues he addressed.

Following the roundtable discussion on secularism and religion, Dr. Steve Hopkard, Reader of International Relations at SOAS, conducted an interview with the two guests from New York: Dr. Azza Karam from the UN Population Fund and Dr. Jonathan VanAntwerpen from New York's Social Science Research Council.
