In this podcast, Lindiwe Dovey - Senior Lecturer in African Film at SOAS - interviews the Congolese filmmaker Djo Tunda Wa Munga, writer and director of the multi-award-winning film VIVA RIVA!, currently screening in cinemas across the UK.

Lindiwe and Djo discuss what inspired him to become a filmmaker, his philosophies on filmmaking, his relationship to "African Cinema", and everyday life in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Special attention is devoted to what makes VIVA RIVA! a different kind of African film, and one of the few to have secured mainstream distribution (through Metrodome Group).
