2012 CAS Annual Lecture: 'What Picasso Knew: Highlighting Contemporary African Art'
Centre of African Studies annual lecture given on 23rd May 2012.
Sokari Douglas Camp (b. 1958 lives and works in London), has had more than 40 solo exhibitions worldwide. Her work is in permanent collections at The Smithsonian Museum (Washington, D.C.), Setagaya Museum (Tokyo), The American Museum of Natural History, (New York) and the British Museum (London). In 2005, Sokari Douglas Camp was awarded a CBE in recognition of her services to art.
Douglas Camp's work is predominantly steel sculptures, which are inspired by her Kalibari heritage, globalism and political freedom.
